With Sony and Microsoft both drip-feeding information regarding next-generation plans, questions about the games themselves are becoming more prevalent. Which titles set to release early in 2020 will also take advantage of the PlayStation 5 and next Xbox months later? The incredibly short list of such experiences just became a tad longer, thanks to Crystal Dynamics. Members of the studio have confirmed Marvel’s Avengers will indeed receive updates on next-gen consoles.
A few developers from Crystal Dynamics recently spoke with Hip-Hop Game for a Hot 97 interview. During the brief talk, the developers were asked whether Marvel’s Avengers will make use of the extra power baked into next-gen hardware. Quite simply, the answer is yes. Just like the transition from PS3 to PS4 with 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot, Crystal Dynamics does intend to elevate its Avengers experience for the new consoles. With the PS5 and next Xbox, the studio aims to “squeeze more out of” Marvel’s Avengers, as well as “put more stuff in there.”

Dying Light 2 serves as another big launch for early 2020 that will have a cross-gen release. A few months ago, Techland’s Chief Technology Officer, Paweł Rohleder, confirmed that cross-gen development had been on the cards since the sequel’s production began.
Marvel’s Avengers is slated to come to the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One early next year on May 15, 2020. An Earth’s Mightiest Collector’s Edition will launch alongside the title, featuring extra goodies such as a Captain America statue, Hulk bobblehead, and a steelbook case.
